Just like Star Wars and Doctor who, STAR TREK is another franchise that has been with me as long as I can remember, My earliest memories are seeing the odd Original Series episode with the original crew repeated on TV.

I can remember seeing The Motion Picture but cannot remember when or where, the same goes for the following two movies (The Wrath of Khan & The Search for Spock), by 1986 I knew exactly what the universe of Star Trek was and was taken by my Mum, Brother and some friends to see my first Star Trek movie on the big screen, STAR TREK IV The Voyage Home and it was a blast, the mix of humour, sci-fi and action hooked me and I have loved all things TREK ever since.

I can remember watching the Pilot episode of STAR TREK THE NEXT GENERATION in 1987 and unlike the Original Series which was really more my brother time, this new series was mine, The new U.S.S ENTERPRISE looked sleek and amazing and I grew attached to the crew, with the exception of Wesley Crusher played by Wil Wheaton although in the past few years with his apperance's on The Big Bang Theory I have warmed to him and would love to see him reprise the role of an adult Wesley in the future.

Early 1990's brought us another spin off series, This series would be different from the previous two as it would take place on a Space Station rather than a Star ship, that series was STAR TREK DEEP SPACE NINE and boy was it different, while the Pilot episode and first couple of series for me were a tad slow the third season started to pick up pace with the introduction of the U.S.S DEFIANT, a small but tough star ship assigned to the station.

The season 4 opening episodes The Way of the Warrior was for me the best 2 episode's from the whole series and introduced Worf who had previously been Chief of Security aboard The Enterprise in TNG, This changed the series and with the continuing story arc (The Dominion War), we have a series that felt more like a continuing saga over the series, the war would not end until the final episode (What we Leave Behind).

The late 1990's would bring us yet another series, a third spin off from the Original Series, STAR TREK VOYAGER would yet again be set aboard a star ship the U.S.S VOYAGER, this series would be different in that the ship would be lost in a far reaching area of space known as the Delta Quadrant and it would take the crew 75 years to reach home, the series would follow the crew making new allies and enemies, encountering BORG space and trying to find new way to shorten their trip home.

The fourth and final series to be made in the early 2000's was STAR TREK ENTERPRISE (originally just known as ENTERPRISE), this series would be set 100 years before the Original series and would feature the crew of the very first star ship ENTERPRISE, the series only ran for 5 seasons but had memorable stroy lines, guest appearances and nods to some of the previous series, the series ended with the birth of the United Federation of Planets and Star Trek left the small screen.

In 2009 JJ Abrams rebooted STAR TREK, with new actors playing the roles of the crew from the Original Series, set in an alternate timeline known as the Kelvin universe, the only original cast member to appear was Leonard Nimoy as SPOCK, a role he would reprise one last time in the sequel STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS (Not in my top 10), the third and as far as im aware final film in the reboot universe was STAR TREK BEYOND which was surprisingly quite good.

2017 saw the debut of a brand new series, STAR TREK DISCOVERY would be set in the PRIME universe once again and would be set roughly 10 years before the Original series, the series would be set upon the U.S.S DISCOVERY, a science vessel with an experimental means of travel, the first season ended with the arrival of the U.S.S ENTERPRISE under the command of Captain Christopher Pike, Pike was Captain of the ENTERPRISE during the events of the original pilot episode The Cage.

The second season would see Captain Pike take command of the DISCOVERY to search for the Red Angel whilst fighting off an advanced Artificial Intelligence known as Control, the end of season 2 would see Pike back in command of the ENTERPRISE alongside SPOCK and DISCOVERY flung 900 years into the future, Season 3 begins in October 2020

2020 saw the introduction of TWO new STAR TREK series, STAR TREK PICARD would follow former Captain of the ENTERPRISE D Jean Luc Picard, Picard now retired from Starfleet rushes back into space on a personal mission to find answers to his dreams, dreams that feature his old friend DATA who died in the last TNG era movie STAR TREK NEMESIS, the series featured many call backs not just to TNG but also VOYAGER and the first JJ ABRAMS movie as well as NEMESIS.

On August 6th 2020 the animated series STAR TREK LOWER DECKS began, set on board the U.S.S CERRITOS this series focuses on the crew who man the lower decks of the ship and do all the jobs no one else wants to do, This series relies heavily on humour and it works, there have been many references to most the previous series with the excepton of DISCOVERY, a second series in in production.
